What's Up Wednesday (2014 Swann Chess Championship)

Yesterday saw the 2014 Swann Chess Championship finals being hosted in Swann. Not only was the Duke of Swann present for the competition but took part and made it through to the finals.

The Duke of Swann, an ardent fan of chess and for the last few years quite a good player, has seen fit to sponsor an annual event in the small Principality of Swann in order to boost the sport and to boost it among the youth. The championship atracted over 200 entrants who where knocked out over the two weeks preceding the final. The final was televised on prime time Swann T.V. last night.

Not intimidating to come up against the patron of the event and ruler of the host country, the Baron Van Heerden, a Swanobian young lord was ready to face the challenge.

Marelize Von Engelbrecht, chairman of the Swanobian Cultural Society was the honourary judge presiding over this clash of the titans.

Within 13 minutes the war was over with the Duke of Swann beating the slightly exasperated Baron Van Heerden who is well known for his tenacity in play. We Look forward to next year's event.
